- - - see revised route further down the posting - - -

Hi folks,

Kyle and I are heading to the open day next Sunday and plan to meet up along the way. If anyone north or west of Birmingham wants to join us then you can find us on route as follows :

9.00 to 9:30 Meet up at Weston Park on the A5 - main entrance. There is lots of room even if the main gates are closed.

9:30 Leave Weston and head along A5 East to Gailey (watch multiple speed cameras). Pulling in for 5 mins stop (around 9:45) at the petrol station there (Malthurst, Gailey) to refuel and pick up anyone travelling M6 South.

9:50 Join M6 South, J12, then immediately on to M6 Toll Road. Continue to A5 turnoff (Jn 4, I think), ETA 10:15.

10.15 Continue on A5 to Hinckley, arriving around 10:40.

HIghflyer & CanAm Dave, what d'ya think ? Likewise GtrSimon and DHGTR. And anyone else smile

If you want to join the party please add your name below, details of your motor & where you will meet us, so we can keep our eyes open for you.

Regards

Tony, Red GTR, Weston Park at 9:00am.

I find coming off the M6 at junction 2 and then heading up the M69 to the A5 is a better route. I'm going from the North West but not sure what time and sadly not in my Ultima so wouldn't add much to a convoy. If down there in time I'll keep my eyes open and tag on behind

Hi Tony

My usual route is the same as Chewys. I'm aiming to get to the factory for 10. I need to allow plenty of time for fuel stops on route it's 115miles for me. I'm running a little on the rich side and this thing drinks like a fish. 1 litre per mile!yikes

I did about 250 this weekend and all went well. That's 505miles on the new engine now! I'll try and do a bit of re-mapping around cruising speeds before Sunday.

We could meet at the services on the M6 Toll (Norton Caines) if you want to leave a little ealier.

M6 Toll at Norton Caines is fine with me, as is the earlier start.

How about meeting there between 9:00 and 9:15 then ? We should then make the factory by 10am easily.

If anyone is looking to meet at Weston we'll be there around 8:40, then straight on to M6 Toll services. Kyle, we can meet up about 8:15 on the A442 - I'll call with details.

Is this okay ? idea

Tony.

Hi Dave,

See you there ! May need a drop of unleaded myself. Done 360 miles so far & filled up both tanks 3 times. About 8 or 9 to the gallon by my maths ...

PS : If you are doing a 500 mile oil change soon, Ultima say they will have a fresh supply of filters in time for the open day (at £8 a throw).

Hi Tony

See you at 9am on Sunday then! Lets hope the weather holds.

I'll be doing an oil and filter change before Sundays road trip. This will be my second oil change for the new engine. The first oil change was after a few hours of running to get rid of all the assembly lube and to check on the magnetic oil plug. It has a running-in oil in it at the moment. This oil change will see normal oil. I'll be using Millers semi-synthetic 20/50. The supercharger will also be getting its first oil change. Its independent of engine oil and runs on its own fully synthetic oil.

Regards Dave
