Airvents and dash displays....

Hi all,

Just started planning out my dash layout and now realise what a pain it is to fit it all in!

My 2 Audi TT airvents will now have to me moved to the side of the dash to free up some more space... Has anyone got any pictures of where you have located your vents if placed on the curved side of the dash? I'm a bit concerned about clearing the bodywork at the back with the hoses etc...

The rest should fit ok I think. Using a Motec sport dash which frees up a lot of space. Has anyone moulded a pod for one of these? Was thinking of getting a factory stack pod and modifying perhaps...

All I have to fit in now are the 2 TVR Sagaris control panels (these are really nice) and my PC TFT ;-) All seemed like a good idea at the time... Got to wire it all up yet!

Any pics /ideas appreciated.

The factory Stack dash pod is just a basic glass moulding so would be expensive to just hack about.
Start by placing the module where you want it and getting the angle right. Try and do this in daylight as refection off the dash can be a pain if it is at the wrong angle. When happy with that then start to form the pod shape with polystyrene foam and plaster. Make sure you include a 'peek' over the top of the module to shade it for two reasons:- 1. To stop light reflecting off it. And 2. To stop its backlight reflecting off the windscreen when driving at night.
For those planning to use it, the factory Stack pod does not have a large enough peek and needs extending.

I used RAV4 ball vents and put them on the curve at the side. This area presents a challenge as the curve is double compound so you either have to buil up the area to make it flush, or apply a bit of heat to the vent surround and form ot to match the curves.
