^^^^^ Weather pending, only have the aero screen at the moment, so pray for sun.
Be interesting to see what the noise levels are like as well.
I'll bring the noise meter. I think we could be lucky tomorrow with the weather.
Sun's out!!!
I'll be at Sandown at 2pm. Just watching Hamilton squeeze up the inside of Massa!!
See you there?
Pete
Well, taking Pete at his word off I set....M4 no problem....M25 it starts to drizzle, then 5 minutes later it's a tropical downpour, can't see a bl**dy thing and eventually find a bridge to hide under much to the amusement of the passing traffic. As it eases off I make my way towards Egham only to find it starts to rain again, so find a very convenient large petrol station to hide in....rain stops...car wont start!
Nice AA man tells me the the alternator has gone.
Great day so far! We get the car jump started and I decide the best thing to do is drive straight home, M25 is chock-a-block so head towards Guildford, same story, ok Woking will do and a few back roads...just outside Woking town centre and it stalls again...flat as a very flat thing. Call the AA again, they'll be there within an hour and a half.
So, there's me and a bright orange not so inconspicuous car blocking one lane of a roundabout for an hour or so.
There's some great people out there, comments from "what is it mate?" but more commonly "HA HA"
AA man turns up and says it'll have to be recovered, so manage to get it into a quiet side street, 2 hours later the recovery truck turns up! What a lovely day.
Oh the joys of being a new Ultima owner, spending 6 hours going nowhere, and getting soaked to the skin in the process.
Cheers Pete (don't take up weather forecasting for a living)

Couldn't hear any slipping belts, but there again my ears were probably water logged at the time. Also running very rich, strong smell of petrol, rear clip a lovely speckled black colour, and horrendous fuel consumption. Rang Charles to get it booked in, but he's fully booked till the 20th. Something about someone calling him before me this morning and booking an MOT?

Sorry to hear about the issues with the alternator- he most probably has my old alternator if you want to get it reconditioned. Nothing wrong with it just became a bit noisy.
Also he is doing my car for two days!
Cheers Guy, fantastic gesture. Have a funny feeling it may be more than a simple alternator problem (maybe wiring), as the car may be 4 years old now but has only covered 415 miles from new. Hopefully just teething problems! Also he is doing my car for two days!
