They don't seem quite right to me either.

I have the Getrag and so I looked into this but can't lay my hands on the figures.
I do remember that 200mph in 6th required 7200rpm (This was the figure provided by the factory).
I also recall doing 165mph at around 6000 which give or take a few revs supports this. (I didn't study the speed or the revs to much - as it demands a fair bit of attention on the road at that speed so they could be slightly out.)

996 turbo box is different to the 996 turbo x50 but I think they have the same ratios- the X50 box is stronger. The 996 gt2 is 2 wheel drive and also stronger the standard 996 turbo box. Don't know if this helps

My list shows different ratios for the boxes.

I got my figures from a previous thread.

The gear ratios for the standard factory supplied Getrag are.

1st 3.82
2nd 2.30
3rd 1.52
4th 1.22
5th 1.02
6th 0.84
Final drive ratio 3.44

I just entered these figures into gearcalc and they come up with different figures. Again these are for 6,500rpm

1st 40mph
2nd 67mph
3rd 101mph
4th 125mph
5th 150mph
6th 182mph

I have the getrag fitted to my Can-Am and I will test these figures this weekend using my ECU software to give exact rpm and GPS to give accurate speed. Looking at the above figures they don't seem correct but I will wait and see.

Those figures look pretty good to me. The 6th gear 182mph at 6500rpm would also tally with the 7200rpm req'd to hit 200mph and my own findings.

It sounds like it's mainly 6th gear that interests dilley as he wants to be a member of the '200 Club' as do many of us if were honest.
Lets face it 1st isn't much good other than manoeuvring in the car park - I always set off in 2nd.

Chewy's got it right!!! Its not that I want to do that speed but knowing it can is part of owning an ultima for me!!!! After all it is suppose to be a supercar.

For a fairly reasonable cost, you can always get the 6th gear changed, if your engine won't rev high enough that is... I think luckyp found out some details about it... from powerhausii in the states???

I stand to be corrected but do not believe the gears can easily be changed in the Getrag.
Pete's gear change was on a G50.

never seen the great interest with having a car that will do 200mph whats the point in sacrificing acceleration performance for top speed when in the real world you are never going to get it flat in top !!! most ultimas will hit a 100mph in 7 or 8 seconds and do the 1/4 in 11 or 12 is this not the reason why we call it a supercar ?
