Mounting Confusion

Hi all

Have started to fit my lovely AP brake kit but have noticed that the front caliper mounts are machined slightly different from each other. Is there a reason for this and if so which side is which? Everything seems to fit ok but a nagging doubt remains.

Hi Dan,

Just check that the disc is central to the caliper (measure an equal distance inboad and outboard between disc and inner edges of the caliper). If you also have the same dimensions at the other end of the caliper, you should be OK.

The manual that comes with the brakes is pretty good. I checked mine with a DTI gauge too to make sure the hubs were true, but you don't really need to do this as the standard of the Ultima machining is very good.
