Just renewed the spyder with HAGERTY www.hagerty.com/
£360 for 3.5k miles.... not too bad... BUT (not sure if this is good news or not!!!) it seems if you have a fully comp policy with them, ANY other driver with a fully comp policy with HAGERTY can drive your car FULLY COMP and you their car. (so only if both have fully comp policys with Hagerty insurance)
My son Matt has fully comp insurance on his TVR with them so,,,,,,,,errr......

More details please ! The web site link points at the good ol US of A. Is there a UK arm ?
I've had some scary quotes (or refusals) recently. Only Footman James seems to want the business. Adrian Flux were a total joke
. And here I am, 40 years old with not a scrach or point on my licence. With two months till completion it's getting a priority. Anyone got any recent quotes that are not £ 1,000 upwards for tiny mileage allowances ?
Many thanks
Tony.

Do a search on here. There were a few threads about insurance. Most used to go with MSM (01279 870535)

Hi Tony
I've been insured with Adrian Fux for the past two years. I'm also 40 and it cost £660 last September with fully protected no claims bonus.

Just tell him its been a hard year so you could only afford 3rd party cover.

I am 50 years old, no points etc, 3,500 miles, car value £25,000. Didnt ask about no-claims discounts, only claims history (none in 3 years) Good luck!
An update........
Footman James
£853.65 with £250 XS
Hagerty
£763.35 from email
Adrian Flux
£725.00 with £650 XS requires Cat 1 alarm and Tracker
Still waiting for MSM to come back.
These are based on me being an old git (over 50) new car with a value of £45000 and 3000 miles per year, most I phoned weren't interested in anything over £25000.

Just sent them a request to quote me, they don't mention on their site about max value of car. Most companies seem not to want to insure anything over 50K. Still see what they say tomorrow.

Graham, we dont mention our upper vehicle value limit as we dont have one!!!!!
The indication you have from us doesnt include the PH discount either, please give us a call to talk this through (your mobile # supplied isnt working)
Best Wishes Darren @ Hagerty

I used Adrian Flux last year at £530, with the policy going to a company called NIG. Having had a tree fall on my car and the factory stating very clearly that the car needed to be reshelled, thanks to a lying insurance assessor called Andy Fowkes[?] and NIG I find that they believe that a bodyshop can adequately patch up the dents cracks and holes. Don't use either of these companies, Flux haven't even called to ask how things have gone, let alone to see if they could help. The insurance ombudsman is goiung to be getting a letter and I am going to have to fit a new bodyshell. I'll certainly be looking for a new insurer unless things improve and anybody that can emasculate anyone by the name of Andy Fowkes can apply here for a huge bottle of champagne. Oh well, could have been worse!!!
Thanks for all your replies folks.
After a number of calls, the best I can do is Footman James at £ 950 with an excess of £ 500, £ 50K value. But need Cat 1 alarm. This is for 4,500 miles, so doesn't seem too far off the figures other people have. But they may be subject to a haggle if I get any genuine lower quotes. Equivalently, they think I have a one in 50 chance of writing the car off, per year. Not bad in those terms, is it ?
As you may know, actuaries are employed to work out insurance premiums but the rating scale these insurers use is beyond me - they take no account of very few individual factors. I have 40 insured years of driving powerful cars without incident but this is of "no relevance".
The "terms of use" also confuse me, for example, I asked "can I use it for wedding hire, driving to and from weddings ?". They reply, "no". "Can I commute to work in it ?". They reply "no", but I could drive to work in it so long as I'm not actually working that day - so they deem my driving to be safer when my work PC is switched off ! But screaming around the twists and turns of the A442 is fine.
NB, FJ do offer wedding hire insurance for another £ 600 for 1,500 miles. So they rate driving to and from a wedding as being twice as dangerous as driving around generally.
Requests to speak with the underwriters are met with a firm "no" ....
Regards
Tony.

It may be be worth getting yourself an independant vehicle assesor to check your vehicle. A lot of assesors are paid a percentage(I believe, not a statement of fact, before I get sued!!!) on how much they can save the insurer. You can then go back if the current repair is deemed as not structurally sound.
You may also be able to press to choose which bodyshop you can take the vehicle too. The factory may qualify and you can take it to them to repair. We recently sent a cobra replica back to the factory to get repaired as it was better value for money for our customer.
If you also have legal cover with your insurance, it may be worth speaking to them to get legal with your insurance company if you feel that they are providing you with an unsafe vehicle. This is normally a different insurance policy not connected to your NIG policy.
Any unsatisfactory repair will deem your vehicle at a lower value than it was before the accident. You may be able to claim back this loss of investment capital. I.e. it was worth £50k before the accident, but due to the poor repair is now only worth £40k, but a reshelled car would be worth £45k Therefore you have lost £5k through no fault of your own and this should be covered as an insured loss. This may scare NIG to repair it to your satisfaction.
Dont give up, it may be a pain in the behind, just keep pressing them and you should get what you want.
Hope this helps.
Insurance Update
Just spoken with Hagerty who seem totally swicthed on to the needs of Ultima owners. Quoted me £ 870 for 4,000 miles, agreed value of £ 50,000, proper repairs when needed etc, no need for alarm etc. Underwritten by a competant insurer. Speak to Marcus at Hagerty - he's a good guy.
They also allow you 2 wedding trips for free, then other cover when needed (roughly £ 50 per trip).
They get my vote !
Thanks Graham for the tip !

Footman James worked out best for me:
Car covered for £95K
Fully comprehensive cover
1500 mls limited millage but just a phone call and a small extra fee for more when required
£625
As has been said already, anything over £50K and most did not want to know
Did not ask about track day cover; will give them a call today.
