I am planning to attend the LE Mans Classic in 2008, and was wondering if anybody has had any issues with ground clearance on and off the ferries and any other problems they may have encountered with the Ultima ie headlight deflectors etc. Also any recommendations for breakdown / recovery insurance. Cheers.
I went to the 2004 classic using Hoverspeed. No ground clearance issues there and the people were very good and watching me drive on over the ramps, they seem to have planks and blocks of wood at the ready. Best have european breakdown cover and an insurance green card, plus all the other stuff the French seem to think you need (warning triangle, spare bulbs etc etc).
Had no problem with ferry. They may put you, and others, to one side while they load the tin tops then adjust the ramp for the low cars or insert extra ramp fittings to adjust angles. As was said had one ramp attendant laying down full length, in the pissing rain, to watch and wave me on.
If you have the later Ultima light units you undo two screws on the back of the light unit and twist it round to the oposite stop and lock the screws. Now the lights dip on the other side.
