New Kit question

Is the kit supposed to come with the covers for the e brake and shifter?

Its pretty much tucked between the seats and not visible unless you really look when finished...

Most cars are built in the fashion the factory intended i.e. the 'stripped out racer' look so covers and carpet are not normally fitted.

Paul - I fitted a Richbrook handbrake cover to my 'stock' handbrake : www.lkperformancestyling.co.uk/product.php?ctn=richbrookhandbrakes&product=7000.3

I finished the gear stick in leather and used the factory supplied gearknob (can't rememeber now but that may have even been Richbrook too ?)

If you take alook at past builders websites then you will see that some have covered the panels in carbon (Stig), some have covered in carpet (me), I think that some have used acoustic coverings as they are a bit thinner than carpet, I recall at the factory open day a red (Great Colour) GTR that had leather sides matching the dash and seats and a centre consul. Most have covered the handbrake with an after market handle and cover like Andy, if you have the Getrag center change box then the factory supply a Porsche gear knob and gaitor and handbrake tunnel, which you can then cover in leather also.
If you leave the alloy then you will be forever polishing and trying hard not to scratch it as you slide in!

Check some local junkyards for a hand brake out of the new beetle. The plastic cover should fit over the stock Ultima hand brake. If not, it is very close and would fit with some minor tweaks.

The handbrake lever is a founder member of the Austin/Morris/BMC parts bin so gaiters can be found on many different early cars. My Range Rover Classic has the very same lever.
