engine running great again

Just finished fitting the new throttle cable that I had lying in the garage for a year. It´s fixed the sticking throttle problems that I had been having instantly. When routing the cable found that the coil had melted where it meets the coil lead. Seems that some sort of grease had melted. It´s a wonder the car was still running, I thought I had carb problems, but now the engine is running smoother then ever. No more problems of it stalling under hard braking either.
I was thinking of selling the car after all the trouble it had caused, but this weekends run in the ultima has changed my mind.

I bet after fitting the cable and going for a test drive to gauge the improvement it made you ask yourself 'why did I wait so long before attending to this?'. You will no doubt love the car until something else goes wrong and the decision to sell will rear it's head once again.

Hi DRJ that Ultima GTR that you have is it a LHD? and what engine? a more modern LS or the older type engine...

It´s a LHD which we built in the UK before moving to Spain. It has the "standard" AS 6.3 litre with 540 bhp and 540 lb ft torque. Apart from a few niggles it has run fine.
