Specific engine details required; Can you help?

Hello to one and all.
I am in a situation that requires written proof (buy way of an article/manual that has been published at any time) that categorically states that Chevrolet changed from a L/H dipstick to a R/H dipstick at a certain date. Can anyone out there help?
No need to send answers on a post card but for the first one to come up with a solution or even a sugestion that may lead to a solution gets a FREE packet of chocolate biscuits (I am unable at this time to divulge exact details of said covestables but can assure one and all, they will be a proprietary brand and of good quality).

Do you know 100% that this covered all SBs or certain types?

I#ve had a quick browse and think if you know the original block type it shouldn't be too difficult to find the associated technical bulletin.

I think that in itself deserves a choccie biccie tbh.

Hi Wayne

There was no definate date when the dipstick tube went from left to right as it moved around over the years. I have a book with all the casting numbers in. If you tell me your casting number I can tell you the year that block was cast. It covers all blocks cast iron and aluminium. The book is the 'Chevrolet Small Block parts interchange manual' published by SA Design ISBN 1-884089-25-9

Thanks to one and all that have contributed so far but as it says on the tin, I need to be able to copy text from a bonifide publication that states the year of the change. Dave, I hear what you are saying old bean but that is not what I am after. Steve, that is along the right lines but I really need a book for example that I can go and physically buy.

"Dipstick location also varies. Most Pre-1980 engines have the dipstick on the drivers side. Some engines have the dipstick tube on the other side or mounted to the oil pan. Be sure the location is compatible with your application."

This is a publication for the US market.

Not quite the clear cut wording you are looking for.

I have this book so don't go buying one. Can bring it with me to VW if you think it is of any use.
