It was a long day today finishing off a list of small jobs before I could attempt to start the new engine. But finally this evening I got the chance to press the button. I went through the check list several times.

So ignition on and right hand LP fuel pump running. The ECU fired up the main pump and I checked on the laptop that all was well. I pushed the starter button. After a few turns of the engine it burst into life. It was running very rich so I switched off. I decided the best course of action was to turn down the fuel pressure rather then playing with the map. So I fired it up again still a bit to rich so down went the fuel pressure again. This time it sounded much better but the timing sounded off to me so I shut it off. I altered the timing a little and this time it ran so much better. That's how I've left it for now. I've got the day off on Wednesday so I should be able to work on the settings and have it running even better. It's a great feeling to finally have the new engine running and nothing is leaking either.cool

Here is a pic taken after it was running. The air filter was put on like that just to enable the start. It will be down in the side pod on Wednesday.

I will try and post a video of the engine running next week! I couldn't video the start today due to the fact it was dark and raining. I started the engine with the nose of the car just outside the garage in the rain.

Congrats Dave, sounds like you've made some good progress especially given the poor weather over the weekend. Look forward to the start-up video.

HEy Dave. Looks great. What engine are you using exactly ? Did you make/assemble the charging unit yourself ? Looks as if there was even less space for all that tubes and hoses than in a GTR...How much HP and torque do you have now ? You´ve written "new" engine...is that already you second engine in the first chassis ? What happened to the old one ?

Hi Lutz

The engine specs are all on my website at www.v8yes.co.uk
The supercharger is a standard centrifugal ProCharger D1SC with 12 rib pulleys using the standard brackets supplied with the kit. The chargecooler was designed and drawn on CAD by myself and I had it made by Pace Products. It all just fits under the rear clip. It would be much easier to do in a GTR. The first engine is sat in my garage in parts. If anyone wants it I'm open to offers, it's an AS 383 420HP SBC.
