After nine months hard work including a lot of research and head scratching I should be in a position to start the new engine on Sunday. The supercharger and right hand exhaust system are going on this afternoon. I will finish the induction tubes tomorrow along with fitting the AFR gauge. The ECU has been switched on and all sensors are working. The base map has been loaded into the ECU. It's all a bit of a rush at the minute as the first MOT is due next month, and I want to get some miles on the new engine before then. I will spend the winter months getting the car mapped and once the engine has been run in I will up the boost to hopefully get over 600HP.

I will post some pics when it's all together and the video will follow shortly after.

Wish me luck!

Regards Dave

Thanks for the good wishes. The supercharger is back on now and the exhaust system is complete. Just fitted the second O2 sensor for the ECU and I'm now busy wiring in the new gauges. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Better get back to it!

grat news! what comresion ratio are you running dave?? you should beable to hit well over 600bhp on around 5-7psi so you could run quiet high comp. with out too many problems!

also what size is the engine dave (sorry i think i have forgot! lol)?

thanks Chris

Hi Chris

All the engine specs are on my website at www.v8yes.co.uk

It is a 383 (6.3 litres) SBC and it's running 7.76:1 compression and I intend to take it up to between 12 and 14lbs of boost. It will all be gauged from what boost it develops with the pulley I have on at the moment. But if the heads work well I might not need that level of boost to get over 600HP. It is airflow that is more important than boost.

Regards Dave

P.S. Still on target for tomorrow.

Dave thatys a low comp for a cent sc motor!! but still it will let you run plenty of boost!

and you never know dave, you might start a new age of SC ultimas.

The compression is not that low! It's just that everyone else runs too much or it's on a stock motor. Many people run too much boost and then have to take out too much timing, or they run very rich which is the wrong way to do it. I friend of mine is running the same compression as myself and is making 672 BHP, although he is running more boost than I will.

Watcha Dave, I wish you luck with the fire up on Sunday and will more than likely be joining you at as many events as I can make next year. I guess I will just have to accept that the GTW will be nice and subtle being BLACK and all with your y e l l o w car being about as subtle as a kick in the nuts, keep it real fella and may God speed your arrival into the 600+ club.

My engine here is on 7:1 but I can raise the compression with head changes. I've got tiddly GTBB 28's but expect a lot of kick from low down within stock rpm's. It's being installed into a track based TR8. I reckon the yanks chicken out with boost or as you say, run stock compression.

Dave, I'll bet you'll go all trembly when you hit the starter button! What an adrenaline kick! Have you got somebody with you to check things over whilst you get in a few good revs and bed the rings in etc?

Boosted.

Take no notice of me (only on this occasion I hasten to add) I was having a bad day earlier, If had any hair I more than likely would have pulled the b@std stuff out, and that is not good.

I would just like to add that although I am now follically challenged, I have always regarded hair to be somewhat of an outdated concept in this day and age.bandit
