Trailer for your Ultima?

It seems to me that the one major area that an Ultima is lacking is storage space. I am not talking about room for a first aid kit or a warning triangle but an extra set of wheels, trolley jack and gazebo? If you are doing a track day or going to LeMans, how much easier would it be if you were able to tow a trailer and to that end, an Ultima trailer at that made using a rear clip for example? A possibility or just a crazy boredom fuelled notion?
You are joking right? An Ultima - pulling a trailer? 
Whilst it's possible (most things are if you put your mind to it - or chuck money at it), why on earth would you do so? Better to take a pickup, with a trailer and tow the Ult. At least you can be sure you'll get home if you fall off the track.

When I did power tour I had a few ideas about storage:
1. Cut much bigger holes in the doors and make a zip-open panel on the inside face of the door
2. Get an upholsterer to make custom luggage that fits on the sill, filling the space between the sill and the door.
3. Mould a pod that sits on the rear of the car... like at the base of the roof scoop, attaches through the vents on the top of the rear clip, and to the struts on the rear wing.

Obviously I was only sort of kidding when I started this thread but it occurred to me this morning that it may not be such a mad cap idea after all!. Every one would like to use their car as much as possible right but it is not really an every day car, and people tend to do things especially geared around it so as to use it as much as they can. I am a builder by trade and feel that if I were able to transport, lets say, a couple of bags of sand, some bricks, cement and a few tools, it would make owning the Ultima a lot more practical and going to and from work could be a whole new experience. I am going to give the insurance broker a ring today and inquire as to the implications with regards to the likely hood of getting cover for business use but if I can, this may mean that even the insurance may be tax deductible, never mind certain wear and tear and running costs. I feel I may be onto something here.

Don't forget if the gross weight of your combo is over 3500kg you will have to fit a tachograph.

Wayne - sorry, but this is without doubt the most ridiculous thread ever to appear on PH. Building a trailer for trips to trackdays etc. is one thing, but filling it with bricks and cement to take to site?!?!?!

Agreed - what is that man on - Ultimazipam maybe??????
I hear Iveco rims will fit with just a few mods to the wheel arches, if you want to carry heavy loads Wayne!
By the way, not sure it's possible to insult Wayne (too thick-skinned!!) Not surprised that he's getting up everyone's noses - he does also sell double glazing!! As for being the most ridiculous thread on PH - we still have another 14 days of this to endure! (lots of time yet to outdo himself!
