Oil Sandwich Plate
Discussion
I've been reading up on oil temp sender position and have noticed that all the extension rings are about 25mm+ wide more than enough space to drill and tap for the sender, but the ring I have is about a quarter of that and thus not wide enough to place the sender in. I've since placed it in the filter housing but I guess the question is should my ring be wider?

A sandwich plate has the hoses coming off sideways and the filter mounted to the underside of the plate. If as you say your plate is about a quarter of the normal size making it 6-8mm thick then the hoses could not come of the side as they are way to large in diameter.
I'm guessing you actually have an adaptor plate with hoses coming straight down off the plate and running to a remote filter housing.
If so then you have a similar install to mine. I fitted my temp sender in the adaptor plate between the 2 hoses. Wherever you fit it it would be wise to understand if you are measuring flow or return temperature as this will help your understanding of what the reading actually means.

Steve,
I have a normal sandwich plate with the fittings coming out the side to the oil cooler, it's the spacer ring between the plate and the block which is only about 5mm or so. Not knowing too much about this, my concerned was/is, is should it be thicker and also that I have placed the sender actually in the sandwich plate (on the out going oil side)
Maybe nothing but just wanted to check it out.
