Boxing and insulating the air intake; Is it worth it?

I am looking to box around the inlet stacks on the Kinsler and insulate/duct right up to the scoop to try and get the inducted air as cool as possible. Anyone here done this and what did you find? Any data or input please.

If you mean the scoop in top of the clip I would suspect it does not have sufficient area for the amount of suck that engine will be pulling.

Yes I have done it. And yes it is worth it.

steve_d - what makes you say that, all you need to compare is the intake surface area to the area of the scoop opening and it is large enough (at least for my setup plus some).

I have the Reverie intake on top of my Holley Commander 950 EFI system. No data but it works........



There's a piece on the rear bodywork that mates and closes the system off.

In my 'minds eye' I was comparing the total of all those Kinsler stubs and it added up to more surface area than the scoop. May well be wrong but would want to do the calcs before boxing it in and not letting air in from anywhere else.
