Guys,

I know it is a silly question but, where the hand-brake cables pass through the rear ally double-skin bulkhead....did you guys use a rubber grommet? or did you just seal it with silkoflex?

I have had a look and can't find a nice suitable grommet as the cable is quite large....

Any ideas...

cheers

You should fit grommet(s).
You will probably have to cut the grommet to fit it over the cable so you can find an oversize one and cut it back until it is a nice fit.
Cut the grommet and measure the amount of material that would be between the cable and the edge of the ali skin (typically about 1mm). Adding twice this figure to the diameter of the cable will give you the size of the hole you need in the skin.

i used a suitable sized blanking grommet for the bulkhead hole and cut the required amount of material from the centre of the grommet.

Actually, i believe that I saw some time ago a gizmo (in two twistable parts) that did not need threading through from the end of the cable, but it slipped over the side of the cable and I think then twisted to lock and seal the cable. It then was then fastened to the bulkhead with screws, if my memory serves me! Looked very professional!

Anyone know what these were and where from?

cheers
