Stone Chip Protection - Ultima Kit
Discussion
Stig just reminded me. I had a company come in to take a template for a stone chip protection kit for the GTR (it'll do can-am to).
I gave them the feed back that you guys offered when I posted about areas prone to impact. They had the guy from the supplier of the film there to give advice in rads and double compound curve adhesion etc.
I had left the witness from a trip back from the factory to show where the flies had stuck!
Finished article looks great.
1) A pair of rear edge side pod protectors - these go from midway under the side pod aperture (cut not vertical but at an angle to match door/pod angle) rearward and up and over the intake to the clip/cockpit shut (and there cut vertical). The film curves right over the air intake and stops 1mm from mesh.
2) Front cover. The whole front vertical face from wheel arch to upper outer lamp corner, under lamp back up to mid number plate. A nice touch is that the Ultima logo now looks laquered into the paintwork - won't lift when polishing!
3) Front lower lip cover. obvious.
Cost of individual items start from £40 up to a full kit fitted by the company at £399 inc VAT.
Contact sean@fxuk.net for details.
I s'pose I'm in quite a good position to tell you how good it is, week after next!!
Pics tomorrow.

Hi P
Nice color! I had the same done to my GTR some time ago and having just returned from nearly 900 miles to Indy and back I can tell you these work great! I bounced pebbles, stones, rocks, sparrows, a pheasant and even a few small kids off the front of the GTR and am no worse for wear! I did do a little damage trying to reshape a curb but thats a whole other story. My advice to anyone considering this is spend the money, it's cheap insurance. Your pricing seems similar to ours here stateside. I was the first......and only Ultima my guy had done so he had to make up the templates but the total cost installed was $500. Worth it in my mind!
