V8 Lotus engine

I'm still not 100% decided on which engine to mount in my CanAm. Just found this one on the classifieds.

and they must be lighter than a SBC even with the turbos. The reliability is exactly what I am afraid of.
I am circling in on the BMW M5 engine. I know the ECU on the M5 can be a real puzzle to get right - especially on the last version of the M5 V8. On the other side - I also expect a more realiable engine once its in and running.
Anyway, I'm also following the "ENGINE CHOICES" topic - seems that Bitzleftover are having the same luxury problems as I have - choosing engine.

Nice Idea but my brother' V8 Lotus engine from the Sport 350 has just needed major surgery after just 14,000 miles. There is a problem with the Cambelt tensioner design, which if not remedied quickly will result in a new block. Also, some of the early V8 engines had cylinder liner seal faults, which also meant an engine out job and strip down to fix.
When it's running, there is plenty of power and it feels pretty bomb proof but it's the smaller detail items which let it down - the low quality steel exhaust manifold studs and nuts, shallow plated brackets. A great idea but somehow not finished properly.

Any-one checked out an AMG V8? 
These are awesome, and very very bullet-proof! I have been lucky to have owned two in the past, and both topped 135k miles whilst with me and still going strong with virtually nothing done to the engine bar normal servicing - and boy did I cane them, from new!! and they like Superchargers!
