High beam switch?

This may sound a really stupid question and the answer's probably obvious, where's the high beam latching switch? Had the car for two years nearly and never been out at night!!!! First MOT is due and I can't find it???? Have the normal push to flash button, but can't for the life of me find the "latching" switch for high beam?????

It's a momentary Switch that operates a Latching relay... Look at the Ele drawing...

Sounds like you have a duff relay. It's quite a common problem. I need a new one for mine too!
The "push to flash" button, as you call it, should also operate the high beam, only when the lights are on.

Duff relay indeed I've sorted it for a while by removing the lid and bending the "flip/flop" arm a bit. S.d's law says it'll stop working again as soon as it reaches the MOT station on Tues morn!
