Door Lock - what's the secret?

Well at least both sides are the same. Can't get either to lock.

They the latch OK, but I can't get them to lock or unlock unless you sit the lock about 3mm out of it's hole or twist the lock slightly.

Anyone been here before? If so which bit did you 'ease' first?

I had cause to work on mine yesterday. They were originally factory fitted although I may have adjusted them - it was a while since. There was a washer behind the fixing screws to position it out of the hole as you suggest - 4 washers fell off the 3 screws so one must have been packed out further than the others - typical of me but I didn't check before removing them so I had to apply a bit of trial and error to set it right again. I left each screw slack – got a rough idea where it should be when closed then tightened each with a washer behind it. The hardest part was securing the screw in the bottom of the lock arrel
