i dont fit

Hi all

i went to stonleigh and was proudly told ultima supports drivers to 6 foot 8

being 6 foot 4 1/2 i though great got in the demo car with the droopped floor

and my head was rattling inbetwwen the rollcage and this is without a helmet on

has any one got any ideas what i can do to get in my kit car

the website bosted support for 6 foot 6 before i started

so i am a little miffed i dont fit

please help

though about it but i have a GTR chassis with role bars

and i wanted a roof and the aerodynamics so i can go far

but yes i am considering a can am

There is more to fitting in a car than how tall you are. My wife and I are both 6'0", her inside leg measurement is 36", mine is 31". So sitting in the Ultima my wife has almost 5" more head room than me.

I was told a lowered floor pan was only required if you were more than 6'. But I can't fit in with a helmet, where as my wife who is also 6' can easily fit in wearing a helmet. One of these winters I'll get round to lowering my floor pan.

So all in all, you can only tell if you fit by getting in a similar car.

Perhaps you could try a "Gurney bubble", as used on GT40s?

thought of guerny bubble

but the problem is i am in the roll bars

and my head is going to get smacked hard as i corner

need to drop the floor at leats 2 1/2 inches by my calculations

plus the steering wheel is righ on my knees??

If its only you driving you may win an inch by not using runners.
Again if you are long in the body you may be able to cant the seat back or use a seat with more rake.

I might be the 6'8" customer! I have made custom seats to "slouch" more and clear my head from the rollcage. I have the dropped floor, plus have installed a dropped zone for my heels. Otherwise my shoes were touching the steering column above the pedals. I wear 36"leg jeans, stand 6'8" tall. I doubt that I can wear a helmet and not hit the roll cage though.

i have an idea

if you take the rear air scoop and make it come up and over the buby

you could place the two internal strengenthing bars in there

these are the main problems

wouldn't look too silly???

Surely you are thinking in the wrong direction, just get a deeper floor pan made and raise the ride height by an Inch and a 1/2 ( no big deal )

This is exactly what I would suggest. I'd look into a seat that reclines more than the standard Ultima seats. Seats are a tough choice though, b/c you may have to try several out to see what works. I don't know if the chassis will allow a reclining seat? You think the Ultima is bad. I'm only 6'0" and rode in a new Ford GT with a helmet and I had to slouch a lot to fit in that car. Even with their improvements in the door over the original GT40. Fortunately, their seats are adjustable though and I was fairly comfortable going at high speed around a track.
