Does any one have any pictures (build diary,workshop Cd) or can guide me to information on the instalation of the Brembo handbrake caliper and bracket?
This is for a non ultima application. Looking at the unit i cant make out if the bracket should sit becide the disc or on the other side of the caliper body??

Any help????????????.........please!

I don't have a pic but on the Ultima the bracket is next to the disc.

cool............on the 'hand brake caliper bracket' there are two through holes that nut and bolt to the upright, are the other two hole threaded?
there is 15mm between the disc and caliper body, an m10 nut is 11mm in height leaving nothing for bracket thickness!!!!!!...................help!

Should have chosen HiSpecs ! There rear brakes have an integral Handbrake and weigh much less which brings the unsprung weight down a lot !

I looked at Hi-spec brakes for my car, I even got so far as to fit a set to the front of the car before returning them because a) IMHO they were an inferior product which did not fit correctly - the pad overhung the edge of the disk and all of the mounting hardware supplied for the callipers was of the incorrect length; and b) Hi-spec were unable to supply a rear handbrake mechanisim fitted calliper missing every promise they made for delivery.

I found Hi-spec did not return calls and were most unhelpful when you spoke to them.

I eventually ditched Hi-spec and got the Factory set up. When you compare the two kits (which I had the opportunity to do as I had both at the same time) it is quite clear which is better. The AP brakes fit properly and the entire engineering of the system is far better. I obviously cannot say how Hi-spec perform vis-a-vis actual brake performance but I cannot fault the AP's and struggle to see how they could be bettered.

I agree with the views on Hi Spec. My calls were not being returned. Then the brake conversion not fitting correctly (after I supplying them with an upright and a wheel!) It was also six weeks late.

I converted the car to factory AP kit.

Ferrari enzo, mclaren F1, Ascari and MC12 to name a few all use this handbrake caliper! when it comes to handbrake calipers this is by far the beast solution. Agreed its heavy at 2kg and the hispec solution (original patent by ford) looks like an efficient design. Its just a shame such a second rate company make it!...................... any one have any pictures of the brembo caliper mounted??

Have you checked the Ultima build sites for pics?

yes but the pics did not show much mounting detail :-(.....one bolt is an M10 and the other M8, if the bracket was threaded and made a nut redundant i could see it all fitting in this 15mm space! if a nut is used how can it fit!im missing something! i want to use the ultima mounting method what ever it is as this is a proven method with many miles on the clock..........Also, the caliper can take a maximum 28mm disc width, the ultima AP rear disc is 30mm in width. Do you guys have to trim the pad to make it fit? ........

The braket is (AFAIR) threaded (helicoiled); as you say one bolt is 10mm the other is 8mm. I have looked but have no photographs showing the handbrake caliper mounting.

No the pads as supplied went straight in - perhaps Ultima specify pads with thinner friction material? I can't see wear being a problem on the handbrake caliper. However having said that, I had a play with mine before I fitted them and estimate that they could have accommodated a disk about 2mm thicker than the Ultima disk with the pads as supplied. The operating piston can easily be retracted from its initial (as supplied position) by screwing it in.

cool, if the bracket is threaded with a helicoil it all makes sense, 10mm ish bracket leaving some 5mm of space..thanks
