Ultima(te) Bra?

After loosing count of the stone chips on my front clip after attending the Marham trackday, I was wondering about using a 'car bra' to protect the nose end whilst out near stoney areas...

Has anyone tried this? Or know where one could be made...

Why not just have that film put over that protects from stone chips? Its permanent and you can't see it when its there.

Me too - front vertical bit under lights is about 50% stone chip by area. Need to get a quote for a respray. Any ideas as to cost for this area in silver ?

Was also looking at the venture-shield advert in Evo today. Reckon will just use masking tape next time I go on an airfield though.

Those were some serious stone chips on Peters car.
I think adhesive backed 22swg stainless would be required.


[/jokemode] I don't think any form of film would have worked but the bra idea, in vinyl, as used on VW beetles may work.

Ted/Rich suggest getting the car repainted at the end of the driving season, which isn't a bad idea, instead of having to do it twice!

The 'big' chip was a minor disagreement with a cone at Marham as a result of my shocking line into one of the tight (luckily slow) twisties...

In hindsight I think that perhaps having the nice thick Gel coat is a good idea, if only it came in my colour...


As for a vinyl bra, I'm thinking the best idea is just to go to proper tracks with proper surfaces...

sorry mate just thinking of a cheap and easy soloution! and thats what i keep telling my mate to do with his BMW! he has a CSL front bumper and is worried about scratching the hell out of the VERY exspencive carbon bits! i just told him to sick some black gaffa tape to the bottom! bingo now if he does touch the front end the tape will hopefully take most of it!

Brad Z had a see-through sheet added around the major chip areas. I'll find his notes and send them on. I haven't seen it myself, but he is on this forum (Usagtrman?).

A lot of owners of exotic / expensive cars use this same service (apparently).

Your car might require a bra but if you carry on driving like that, the driver and passengers will require "pampers"

Well it was my first time on a track of any sort!

And I was trying to keep up with an Exige which has some barely road legal track tyres on it...

As for a bra, well I think I'll live with the scratchs & chips and get it panelled/painted at the end of the season...
