765bhp for $20K!!!!!!!
Discussion
i was just on another forum discussing American speed engines and possiable alternatives for custom/engine swaps.
Tom Nelson of nelson racing chimed in and give some very interesting answers!
He says he can build a 454CI sbc with symetrical port heads for $22K (!!!) that will make 765bhp on normal fuel (93 octane in the US) and be useable!!!!!
now to me that sounds amazing as its also a turnkey motor so even if you have to sourse a few bits its still an amazing price!
here is a ling to the thread and and exstract.
700 Hp Pump Gas Sbc
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We Have A Combo For This. The Motor Is Spendy Though.i Base The Motor Off Brodix's Bd2000 Head Which Is A Symetrical Port Head 400 Cfm At 700 Lift.i Use A 4.185 Bore And 4.125 Crank On A 9.500 Deck Block.that Makes 454 Cubes.the Motor Makes 765 Hp On 93 Oct.compression Is 11.5 To 1 .it's A Sick Puppy When You Want Basically The Baddest Na Pump Gas Sbc.22.000 Is What It Cost'sturn Key
Thanks For The Good Words.it's Still Streetable But It Definately Sounds Nasty.

yeah they have been in since 2003 i think! they did well (second) in 2003, had some trouble in 04 and not seen anything on the 2005 results yet!
the goo thing is i have only heard great things about them! and there work is outstanding! and they can do almost anything you want!
thanks Chris.

gtr-tt whats th advantag of them over normal big port cylinder heads???
thanks Chris.
The biggest advantage is the symetrical port design itself. The fact that you, on a normal small block head, have two exhaust ports side by side is very bad, especially when turbo charged. Also the angles are very good on the BD2000 but other "normal" heads can provide that as well.
Everything else is very well thought throu when it comes to cooling etc. The material is also very high quality.
Disadvantage?? yep ordinary lifters, manifolds and valvetrain etc wont fit.
