Trackday insurance

What's the general concensus of opinion on whether to get trackday insurance for Ultimas ?

It's pricey and you're really covering the bodywork as mechanicals aren't insurable (well, they weren't when I took it out on the GTR).

25k's worth of cover cost more than the trackday. But that did cover a re-shell if I pranged it - provided you don't wallop the chassis too of course!

I got a quote this time last year and did not run with it. I rather take the "risk" myself! Maximum insurance limit of £30K and £3K excess all for something like £250. As stig said a lot more than any track day; stay on the black stuff and avoid any nutters (bit like normal driving then). As a rule try to stick with well organised events with limited numbers on track.

When someone says we are going to have an Ultima/noble/TVR? only track day then I may be interested in joining in. You have to have a situation where the other guy has as much to lose as you otherwise you could be taken out by a nutter in a £1500 Nova (with no two body panels the same colour).

Why don't you come to Knockhill for one of their Hot Marques evenings as these are limited to cars over 10k. So far I haven't seen a single contact between cars which is very reassuring and if it's too far well why not hassle the other UK tracks to try a similar approach?

It would only take me 7 hours 40 minutes to get there. Could be well pi$$ed of with driving by the time I arrived.

Why not go to RAF Marham? There might still be time to get in.
Track is a mile wide and nothing to hit at all!! Also, some nice cars going.
