Well... the pods are hanging there... gonna put the roof section on tomorrow and try to sort out the wiring and make sure everything finishes as I want before I fix off the top of the storage pods or any bodywork.
... Dont tell Jeff, but I am going to set it alight tomorrow to see what burns and what explodes and what flies off. It will be a perfect opportunity to test the fire system too.
Also thinking of doing a crash test to see if the thickness of the aluminium really does compensate for the loss of strength at the holes for the rivets.
Was also thinking I might chuck it in the sea to check if it floats now that it has all the foam in there. Maybe its a good tradeoff, I will die from shrapnel if it catches on fire (and the fire system doesnt work).... but at least I'll be safe if I lose it into the sea.... actually, maybe I could drive it accross the ocean to Texas and have a race with Jeff in his GTR!!

That was a late modification..... Ive turned the engine around to make sure it doesnt suck in rivets when the chassis explodes!! We'll find out tomorrow when I torch it if my calcs are correct!!
Which reminds me.....
There's a frog that builds a GTR… as in Toad of Toad Hall frog, not a French guy.
Anyway, he finishes the car and has a horrendous accident and it catches on fire.
The chassis explodes and he gets ripped to pieces by shrapnel.
Eventually the ambulance arrives, and it doesnt look good.
They get him out of the car (before the tanks explode) and into the ambulance
They hook him up to every machine in there.
While they are pulling rivets out of him, the machine that goes "bing" starts to go eratic....
The head ambulance guy turns to his partner and says.... "SHHHH.....he's trying to tell us something"
The frog says.... "tell my (cough splutter)
“What?” says the ambulance guy
"...... tell my wife and my tadpoles (cough, splutter, cough, splutter...)"
(BING...........BING............BING)- goes the machine
"That you love them?" says the ambulance guy.
"N…..O" the frog says, and motions the ambulance guy to come closer.
And on his dying breath the frog whispers:

Put the roof section on today... had to cut the firewall a bit for the blower drive. I havent measured the filter to see if it clears the rear clip yet. I initially thought there was no way it would clear, but looking at some photos of other cars from the side, and trying to eyeball it in, it may well clear.
The clip is packaged up and stored at the back of the garage and too hard to get to for now. I'm quite sure that the MAF will clear, and if the filter I have doesnt fit I will go for something else.
Even if it does clear, you would probably be better of plumbing the intake off to either of the side pods, as where it is now, you'll be sucking in heated air from around the exhaust can's - unless you've got them plumbed under rather than the usual factory way...
I've got a water system cooled oil cooler on the way to replace the factory square, and I'm planning to mount it vertically under the left hand swirl pot, so something like that would clear up the left hand side port for a suitable air intake box...
Are you going to fit the Reverie side pods as well, might be usefull for helping keep those temps down ???

The Magnacharger has an intercooler between it and the intake, so the air gets cooled after being heated in the blower. Regardless, I obviously want to keep the intake air as cool as possible...
I am thinking of ducting to the side, or maybe to the top.... I need to fit it all up and take measurements. Where it is at the moment will be either in between or above two mufflers... depending on final decision on exhaust route.

1. I want it on the road ASAP
2. I want to have things to do after Ive finished....

Nope.... if you use the std setup the air filter will clash with the bulkhead
There's only a very small cutout in the bulkhead, it may also need a cutout at the waterpump otherwise the bend will be very tight. I had a fabricator over yeterday, he's going to do a whole load of stuff in alloy with exposed welds.... stay tuned.
I was thinking that I would use the Harop SC as its intake is skewed slightly on an angle but its belt drive seams to run through the valley of the motor in a position that is underneath the SC and intercooler.
Then again you could have the SC suck all the flying rivets out of the cabin like a big petrol powered vacuum cleaner

A few shots from Sunday, before I cut the bulkhead for the blower drive... the roof is now bolted on properly.
Have started laying out the dash, trying to decide if the gauges in the centre of the dash will be flat, or facing towards the driver.... like the one on the left. The top of the dash is still gonna be leather, but the face is going to be CF..
