Engine & Gearbox Oil Temp Gauge - whats the best option???

Has anyone hooked up a gauge & some thermo couples to monitor the engine oil, and the transmission oil temps???

If so what bits did you use, and how much did it cost...?

Does the factory have a standard option??? As I'd like to keep the look consistant if possible...
