Guys

have any of you that have fitted your own bodywork actually removed the flashlines yourselves. be interested to hear your thoughts and pick up any tips you might have. the guys that have done their own flashlines did you have the car sprayed afterwards or were you staying with a gel coat finish.

If you don't have the body yet then get the factory/moulder to do it.
The flash line is the most likely place for air bubbles to be trapped which you will find as you remove the flash. You will then have to mix gel coat to fill them and wait for it to cure.
Unless you are very good at bodywork then leave it to the experts.

Pay the factory the £500, it really isn't worth the time and effort.

If you get it wrong it becomes a respray

Save money on some parts and use the cash for this

What are the flashlines?

It's the little ridge you get when you take the body out of the mould. Like the ridge you would get on anything moulded in plastic.

Ahh I see and you can save money by buying the body as its taken out of the mold and finish it yourself rather then sending it in for the factory todo

Yep, but it's not worth the effort. Well, not just because of the effort, but purely because it is probably very difficult to do propperly.

Have a good look at the factory cars, they are perfect. I wouldn't waste time trying to do it myself, I'd probably mess it up anyway.

the factory supply the bodywork in gelcoat but without the flashlines taken off or the headlampholes cut out things like that. it is an option in the price list to have the factory do this work for you.
