Electric Water Pump (Meziere 300) or not on LS2?

Hello,

I’m planning the details for building in the Chevy LS2 (6.0 L) engine in my GTR.
Should I replace the original mechanical water pump with an electric one?

I’m thinking of buying the Meziere 300 electric water pump.
Benefits: better water flow at low revs and more horsepower at high revs – BUT
what about the durability and what about the electric power consumption (small Ultima battery)?

Any thoughts?

It's probably a good idea to replace the factory pump with something better. I believe the ls2 pump lacks the performance and quality of the earlier pumps, in other words GM saved some money. An inline pump may be better and I read somewhere that bosch have a new product on the market which ought to be good. Incidentally, I have a casting which does away with the stock pump casting but I don't know if it would be of any use to you.

I have a meziere WP119 on my turbo ls1 canam. I haven't been to the track but on the dyno and the street it keeps the engine nice and cool. Only problem is it's getting colder and the water temp is way to low. In 50 degree weather at high way speeds my engine is only running 130F. the wp119 has no thermostat. I may just block part of the rad with carboard for now
