Wisconsin Road Run

I was thinking of skipping out for a day early next week and making a Wisconsin road run. The run from Reedsburg over towards La Crosse is a great scenic drive especially in the fall (so I am told). My plan is to leave my place early.....about 6am....expressway up to Reedsburg....about two hours...then meander West on SR33 and take in the great roads and scenery....then when I've had enough......head for home. Here's a link http://www.scenicdrivesonline.com/routes/MidWest/WI/WI_3.shtml The other option was from Whitewater Lake to Elkhart Lake....home of Road America..... which goes through the Kettle Moraine State Park and is said to be quite fun. I've never been on either of these routes so it would be an adventure to boot....gotta love your GPS. I've only got one day to spare and it looks like Tuesday.....anybody up for a fun drive?

Hey Simon.....no problem on the pick up....let's just make it about 1am.....you wait out by the Can Am and I'll be along anytime....I am late some time though
Then you can return the favor come LeMans time!! Seriously, I hate to tell how PERFECT the weather here is for a drive right now....Sunny and 60-70f during the day and high 40's overnight. Combine the changing colors this time of year with open and twistee roads, plenty of elevation changes and the scene is set for a great drive. My GTR is running great and I've had no real problems with nearly 1000 mile on the odometer.....Thanks Mike! I'll take plenty of pics and try to capture some video off my rear camera as well. Brad Z
PS To top things off I have a customer to visit so this would be a business trip!

I hear you on the gas prices. We are all squealing over here about our $3 a gallon prices! As is typical of us Americans.....we don't realize how good we have it! The weather is a little cooler here today....mid 50's f ....but I keep my fun cars out until the "Salt Nazi's" come out. Since no one here knows how to drive when it's slippery.....the cities and counties cover the roads in salt so thick you'd swear the ground here was white! Once they start to put the stuff down I keep all but the daily driver off the road. I have a car cover and a bubble (Carcoon) for my VW and a cover for the GTR (bubble on order) as it keeps the car clean, warm, dry and rodent free for the winter. Do you guys use those? We can figure the first salt to hit the ground around the end of November so I've got 40 more days to have fun. Have you put the Can Am up for the winter?

The Works Dept use liquid salt on our roads. The county says that it is cheaper to use.

we have gritters in uk they put a mixture of salt and sand on the roads will start when we get the first frost so pretty soon i think ,fuel has gone mad over here i had to fill the can-am up for last weeks show and i did not get much change out of £70
worst of it is it was all gone after 200 miles !!! can-am will come of the road at the end or the month am going to fit fuel injection over the winter which is going to be a big project but i am totaly fedup with the carb so its got to go will store most of the body work etc in the house over the winter ( don,t tell the good lady as she does not know yet

If all goes to plan this will be a yearly event so we'll put the two of you down for next year! I wonder which takes longer......driving an Ultima GTR from Reno to LaCrosse....or Flying a Can Am from the UK to Chicago followed by the drive to LaCrosse? Simon.....sounds like an episode of Top Gear.....maybe you can ring up Clarkson and see if he is game to give it a try!
If the weather continues to co-operate we'll be grabbing some pics and video as well. I set up the video capture off the rear camera and can't wait to get a shot of Craigs bright red GTR coming up the road.........Stay tuned.

ok guys lets do it lets organise USA hoon !!! we book a plane of some description to carry ultimas and put as many in it as possible fly to you guys in the USA meet up have a big car display big party in the evening then all spend a week driving some of the best roads the USA has got . It would take a hell of alot sorting out but can you imagine the interest in the uk and in the states just from the press !!!!!have a convoy of ultimas cruising across the country 
!!i,m sure some of the magazines in the uk and usa would be intersted in the trip what a blast !!!what do you think ? simon

Kerri and I had a great time today on this trip. The fall colours were spectacular, and Jeff took us to a few places where the roads were quite remarkable as well
