Measuring Horsepower and Torque
Discussion
I see that there has been a lot of talk about HP and Torque measurements, and I wanted to set the record straight.
In the US they measure at the wheels.
Many engine suppliers (including AS) measure at HP/Torque at the cwank.
I understand that both of these measurements are fine for normally aspirated engines, but as Jeff Schwartz is building a Magnacharged LS2 for me
.... I wanted to find a more accurate way of measuring power.
As an Ozzie, I know that the only REAL way to measure the power output of anything with a Supercharger on top (especially a polished one) is actually not in "HP/torque" but in the Australian units of "BS/talk"....and this is usually measured at the pub, or at the wank.
I am expecting the metallic black paint, billet pulleys and the polished Magnacharger will give me AT LEAST 20% extra BS/talk at the pub, and definitely more at the wank. In fact there hasnt even been fuel in the rails yet and I cant stop crapping on about it....
After reading a few old threads I see that with a bit of tweaking I should be able to get a few extra decibles out of this baby with a pair of carefully placed twin-overhead-cam-big block-intercooled woks!!!
Perfect I thought, I live in Hong Kong!!
I am expecting that with a bit of hunting around I should able to have a set of woks for street and another set especially for the track. I understand that in the UK it is the same as Australia in that many more decibles are required on the street than on the track. I just hope that Chinese decibles are the same as Ozzie ones or my woks may need re-tuning when I eventually take the car back to OZ, and in order to tune these woks you need a special software, luckily this software is ONLY available as pirated copies.
Jeff's planning on putting it on the Dyno in a few weeks, Im gonna fly over for that and will post the HP/Torque at the crank numbers when he's done.
The BS/talk at the pub numbers are available already and I am working on the BS/talk at the wank numbers now.
What I know so far is that I have far too much BS/talk for a G50 or Getrag gearbox and have spent a zillion dollars and a few random 2 cents I found around the place on a 15 speed-close-ratio-sequential-paddle-shifted front-mounted transaxle (for better weight distribution).
Fearing that the Magnacharger would not have enough ponies to match my torquies, I am also planning a quadruple-side-draft-ball-bearing-Torbo-setup, with electric motors to assist on spool-up and tuned-length-ceramic-coated-underhanging-blowjob-valves with platimum-braided-lines and antilock-bifold-doors.
For safety, I am adding fast-cooling-overdrilled-18inch-titanium-filled-rotors- with morphene-assisted-off-woad-wacing-wotors to assist bwaking.
And just in case thats not enough I have installed a twin stage nitrous system that delivers a 1000HP shot of Nitrous Oxide direct to the driver and the passenger via the fully-vented-carbon-fibre-polaxynomeric-AC system.....of course both systems have manual overrides.... EXCELLENT!
ALL of the above items are standard items on the 2006 GTR and are interchangable and retrofittable to any Ultima model, and all available in any colour you like except black. (and pink)
Sorry about all of that.... having a boring day at work and I let the excitement of my new engine get away from me and with all the bouncing up and down I crushed my left hand against the table and lost all feeling in it. Funnily enough, in this numb state my hand slipped off the keyboard and fell into my lap.... hence the BS/talk at the wank numbers.
Remember..... real men dont smoke Malborough they smoke Michelins.
