How on earth do you get into an Ultima?

Went to test drive my dream car today, only one slight problem could not the whole of me in - three pound sausage in a one pound skin!

Are there any adjustments that can be made to the pedals and the seating type (currently Ultima's own leather ones). Want to buy the car but as things stand my dreams are fading fast.

Please help!

I have seen some pretty big people get in and out of an Ultima without too much problem!
I took a mate in mine a few weeks ago. He is at least 20 stone. He couldn't do the seat belt up mind you, but he got in it ok.

Did you have the seat back as far as it would go?

How tall/big are you then?

Not a lot you can do with the pedals. There is some adjustment, but it could hamper the clutch and brake operation if you altered them too much.

The older Ultimas have a flat floor. They now come with a dropped floor which gives an extra couple of inches headroom. It's not all that expensive to modify.

try a canam or spyder - you get 93 million miles head room in one of those!

Hi,

I'm 6' 2" and now 15½ stone but I was about 17 stone when I went for my first test drive.

The seats were snug to say the least but I could get in and out ok.

Saying that I'm 1½ stone lighter now and it's a tad easier and the car goes faster :P

The height should not be a problem unless you sat in an Ultima without a lowered floor plan, then you would be upset.

18 st isn't a problem for the seats, most Ultima owners have the middle age spread including myself. ( Not now because my body is a temple and I am 3 stone lighter )

From other posts it seems youve been looking at a Sports. Unlikely these will have the lowered floorpan and I dont know if you can easily retrofit to these models.

Spyder/canam should be OK though for a 6'4" person though - seats should go back far enough and plenty of head room!

It was an older Sports. From posts read here and discussions today I would have to go to a GTR, sadly not sure my wallet will!

I have a spyder with the standard floor and I am 6'2" so looking to fit lower floor this winter. Got a pair of "pans" from this forum. £60. Just a weekend of angle grinding (i hope) and floor should be 2"s lower. This will help a lot.

i'm 6"3

if its a late sport, with a steel sheet floor you can fit trays to give 30 mm extra. I also widened the seat by 20mm easily done as its fibreglass.

I'm in leicester if you want to try it for size

incidently the spider is no good without the dropped floor. no room for legs!
