Hi All ....... some of you may have seen there was a GTR with parts dating back to 1998 but only put through IVA in 2022 in the H&H Classics auction at Duxford on Wednesday 15th March. It sold at £39,000 (hammer price) plus 12.5% buyers premium, plus VAT on the premium. A tad short of £45,000.
Rather surprisingly the engine compartment was not a pretty sight. Either the whole car or the engine (American Speed) had clearly stood in damp surroundings. The rocker covers (chrome) were pitted and there was a great deal of deterioration all over the engine. The expansion tank had very dirty water all down the side of it and rang alarm bells.
Myself and several others studied it with a view to purchase but were put off by the unknown condition of the engine.
The body appeared to be very good and visually the car looked good all round until one raised the rear bodywork.
Maybe someone got a bargain and the car just needed a large amount of TLC (plus some parts changing on the engine).
The car is still on this forum and can be seen on the H&H website.
If the buyer visits this site I would love hear how you get on with it. We may all kick ourselves for not buying it !!!!!

I believe it was recommissioned and IVA'd by MacG Racing, being a father and son project which unfortunately didn't get finished before the father passed away. There was a quite detailed post on the Ultima FB page. Yes I saw the photos of the car and agree the chassis didn't look good, but it was only surface corrosion which could easily be treated. I would suggest it achieved a fair price for it's spec and condition and do hope the new owner enjoys tinkering and driving it. We all know what they cost to build.
