<95db exhaust - is it doable???

Anyone tried to get their exhaust noise down this far and actually succeeded ???

I just found out my favorite (and closest!) track in my home country has this limit, and I'd like to get it sorted sometime before heading back...

I did quite a bit of work in this area on my car, had a whole new exhaust fabricated and managed to get the noise down by 8db's on my car.

Hey Andy,

I found your photos after I searched the forum, but even at 98db, it's still 3db over what I can get away with... and every 3db is double the volume...

Perhaps using the Dynatech cones plus your style exhaust might do the trick...

Any other ideas welcome!!!

I understand from Tony law @ leeds that a balance pipe between the two exhaust banks reduces levels & that mild steel is better that stainless- resonats less.

mine had a balance pipe along with extra length, but it was still stainless and even used straight thro silencers.... so mild steel would probably make enough of a difference to get to the levels you want and if it wasn't a trap system silencer is an option.

remember I dropped it 8db's from what you have thats a huge amount on its own....

also very dependant on how and were the noise is measured.

So I definatelly think its possible even with your engine, just not easy.

It would be nice to have something made out of normal steel, as appearance doesn't matter, for track days only, while maintaining the normal stainless exhaust for general road use and show days, whatever gives the best sound reduction for this purpose...

For the amount of time that I'd use the car on the track I don't mind fiddling around and swapping over the exhausts... even if means a new gasket each time???

It's better than being kicked off the track after 1/2 a lap...
