Well, true to form, I've started another build site but this one dedicated to my forthcoming GTR build.
Not a huge amount of info there yet, but soon..!!

No probs, will keep looking and let you know.
Domster and I (usually post on the Porsche section) are very keen on building GTRs soonish and we're not far from you (Wycombe) so we may blag a visit some time to see how the build's going/have a look at how it's progressing. Have already been pestering Guy Thompson so you'll be next on our list.

No worries.
As I did with the Locost site - www.locost-racing.com - I'll be covering every aspect of the build in mind numbing detail!

Good to see my spreadsheet came in handy.
Hope you get your kit early (mine was available 1 month before I thought it would be) as it would be nice to have someone building at the same time as me.
Garage now beginning to resemble a real workshop, including plumbing in the air supply.

Because the chassis and bits arrived early, I've been working around it sorting the tooling, benchs, shelves, air system etc. The £1200 order from Machine Mart arrived Friday. Cricket Saturday, which because we won (rare event), resulted in a hangover Sunday!
In short, first drilling will begin this week. Will be taking lots of photos as the build progresses.

Out of interest Stig have you calculated the total with everything you want/need put in?
Are you sitting down.... £41.5k plus VAT (£49k). This is with the 500bhp Chevy V8 from American Speed.
Extremely similar!
My total build comes in at a fraction under 42k. This doesn't include the unforseen stuff and things like garage rental etc.
You can do it for quite a bit less but you soon realise that it's false economy and cutting corners doesn't do the car justice.
Would you want 450bhp behind you and the equivalent of bicycle calipers to stop you for example?

quote:Fortunately my wife doesn't use her side of the garage (she wouldn't be able to reverse the car out) so I get it rent free

I agree with the not cutting corners. Its not worth it. Bit like having a ferrari replica with a 1.3Ltr engine and drum brakes. An Ultima is an out-and-out sports car and most people will probably drive it in such a manner to test all the components. I sure will be. On the track of course
