Gone and done it now!!!

Thanks chaps
Actually meeting Ted (wot a nice bloke!) made it a lot easier to make the decision.
Going with a Chevy - probably a 6.3 aiming with about 480bhp. I've got SO many questions!
Started getting prepared yesterday by buying an air rivetter. Just need to get some panel pins and sit on my arse for the next 3 months
We had a good laugh about me going from Locost to Ultima - well, you've got to try both ends of the kit, errr... I mean 'self assembly', car market
Regarding rivets - the ones shown on the build CD look V.small - 3/16 I s'pose but small heads. In Locost, quite a few of us use aircraft grade rivets which have much bigger (and better looking) heads of about 8mm diameter. Anyone see any problems with this?

Blue - Due to pressure coming from the better half I will have to go the whole hog, Aero screen, full screen and weather gear!!
Aero for when I'm out having a blast or when the weather is going to stay fine.
Full screen for longer trips with the weather gear stowed away in case the weather changes. (Trips like Le Mans & weekends away)
Full weather gear for when she starts moaning ..... SSSSHHH, she may hear!
I'm also going to go the way of American Speed for the engine this time, I reckon about 535bhp should be enough, what do you think?

The engine I have is good and has not broken yet despite a few good tries (like leaving the swearlpot cap loose and all the fluid exploding down the road miles from a garage- i believe 120c is good for the engine). I do still think with traction control that the 525hp enforcer is still quite mild and a lot more power is still capable. The problem with American Speeed is no e-mail and sorting the shiping

Javior Marinos car is pretty much done! This is one of the sweetest Ultimas around. The Chevy engine in particular is beautiful(Titanium rods around 550 hp) The TAG fuel injection is of particular interest too. This guy must have some skills because everything including the interior is done very very well.

There was another Ultima site where a guy was building an Ultima in his shop and had also finished an engine swap in a Humvee. I can't find that site now. I don't suppose anybody has it.

quote:Unfortunately work has got in the way. Chassis on tressels awaiting in the carpeted garage. Should start in the next couple of days. The first drill into that wonderful chassis will be the hardest!

Have you started the build yet. All those holes to drill and rivet- must be at least 2,000 still to do
