PH 2011 Le Mans Shirts Are Here!

We return stronger than ever with an exclusive Gulf Oils partnership for 2011

Here at PistonHeads we're an honest bunch, at times we are more than happy to hold our hands up and say that we don't always get things right. Take last year as an example, we were so busy devising the optimum settings for the perfect beer mountain for the 2010 Le Mans 24 hour that we almost forgot about designing a PH Le Mans T shirt. For that we apologise, and offer thanks to those who bought our slightly rushed offering

2011 is different though; we constructed an underground bunker in late 2010 and started work on a top secret design for 2011. Mr Will was asked to stand guard 24 hours a day while we toiled over designs and ruthlessly discarded rubbish without a second thought.

In the end Stuart, Chris-R and I donned our best suits and pointed the PH Fleet AMG wagon towards Central London to meet with the team behind the legend that is Gulf Oil, our mission being to ask them to work with us to create the ultimate Le Mans T shirt. They accepted our pleas and this is the (rather gorgeous) result. After months of hard work and one very exhausted Mr Will.

The dark blue tee is garnished with three of the finest classic Gulf racers to ever grace La Sarthe. First in line is the '69 Ford GT40 followed up by the fabulous '71 Porsche 917 and finally the rarer '75 Mirage. It's fair to say they don't make 'em like that anymore; these cars come from a time when diesel was only used to power the fridge for the pit crews' beer.

On the rear of the shirt we have the lap length in kilometres (it's a French race in France after all), the current fastest lap time and the year (of course). You'll note that it doesn't say Le Mans on it as the ACO don't like that very much, but instead we have the famous PH logo and the almost-as-famous Gulf logo, too. We have sourced a top quality shirt to ensure longevity and a comfortable fit, in fact we are very pleased with the finished item and we hope you are too.

T-Shirts not your thing? How about a Polo shirt instead? This shirt comes with a free collar and a few buttons for those that like to cut a smarter dash when representing Britain abroad and is quite possibly the best quality polo shirt we have ever offered. Similar in design, we have simply reduced the size of the front design to suit the style of a polo, but the back remains exactly the same as the T shirt.

This isn't a market-trader's polo, either; this is at least an M&S polo (or maybe a P&H polo) and as such the prices are a little higher...

And sticker fans haven't been forgotten - a similarly themed sticker will be available next week.

With these shirts and stickers, we're really getting in the mood for the annual pilgrimage to La Sarthe and the annual binge of beers, barbecues, burgers - and maybe a spot of motor racing... bring on Le Mans!

T shirts are priced at £20 (excl VAT and P&P) and come in S,M,L,XL and XXL sizes.
Polo shirts are priced at £28 (excl VAT and P&P) and come in S,M,L,XL and XXL sizes also.
