I had an enjoyable double header last month but not sure what I should have done regarding my licence, do I need signatures etc if so who do I get them from. Is this part of getting rid of the novice cross? I finished both races but I assume it's to late now if I did need them?

Next race soon so I'd like to get it right for next time.

Thanks in advance,

Dunc.

usual process is to hand your signature sheet (from the blue book) at sign in. After the race meeting you then should be able to collect it from the same place after it has been signed by the clark of the course after the races have been classified.

p.s. yes it's five signatures (therefor races) before you can remove the novice cross. you may be able to get them signed at the next meeting if you have proof of your results and will be racing under the same clark of the course again though not sure if this would be allowed?

when you sign on, you give them your upgrade card for signatures. You collect it at the end of the day. Some organisers post them back. Just ask when you hand it over. Make sure it has a photo of you and is signed.

Regarding the last races, contact the organisers to see if you can arrange retrospective sigs.

I am not 100% certain, but fairly sure that you can remove your novice cross after 6 races. There's noone to check signatures for that. You use your signatures to upgrade your licence (from Nat B to Nat A for example). If you are not planning to upgrade, then you don't have to bother with the signatures.

Hi, having done exactly te same last year (forgot to add photo to licence signiture card) I was advised that if you keep a copy of the results to prove you finished you can send these to the MSA at renewal time if you're upgrading (I went Nat B - Nat A) and this was fine for me. It is 6 racess as far as I know before novice X can come off too.

This is a risky strategy, the MSA shouldn't just give you the upgrade - the clerk may have refused you a signature because of your conduct.

Best advice is as above to contact the organisers, what series are you racing with, does it have a permanent club and/or clerk? You'll find the upgrade card at page 128 of your blue book.

There is no check for novice crosses but if you do not run one when you should you could find yourself in difficulty in the case of an accident - you agree to the MSA's rules so must abide by them.

Upgrade from Nat B to Nat A is 6 Nat B sigs and you can only get 2 sigs per "event" so if you have 4 races in one event you can still only get a max of 2 sigs under MSA regs. When sending off your upgrade card make sure you keep a photo copy of it.

Going forward hand your upgrade card in at sign on and remember to collect it around 45 minutes after the end of your racing.

(if you run in longer races you can get a sig even if you don't finish - as the secretary of the meeting or clerk if this might be relevant)

You can get one sig for doing a day's marshalling.
