Being a lone racer and not having people in the pits to check temps and pressure for me, I was considering those Bluetooth valve caps that replay info to a screen in car. Stupid or sensible?

My wife helps me with all this stuff, lucky she is a petrol head and enjoys the atmosphere at a track.

A number of us in the Elise Trophy did a group buy of the Tyresure brand of remote monitor.

Installation was easy and readings accurate - however...

They have proved very unreliable. The (sealed) sensors battery life was nowhere near the manufacturers claims.

The sensors also failed if the casings get cracked - and we found that even very experienced tyre fitters (who were aware of the valve sensors and their workings) still broke a fair few.

On balance: would be superb if they were more reliable and resilient - but as they stand not worth the effort.
