National B - renewel - after 4 years!??? help
Discussion
Looks like you might have just timed it wrong;
"A competitor who held a National ‘B’ Race
licence in any one of the years 2008, 2009 or 2010 may
renew it for a 2011 National ‘B’ Race licence."
Blue book is available to all online, although at present it is the 2010 version!!

Just going through this myself. Last had a Nat A licence in 2004. Had to do the written part of the ARDS test again (and watch the Steve Deeks video!). Need a medical as I am getting on a bit. You can download the forms from the MSA website once you have registered. You do not need to buy the 'Go Racing' pack. Give the MSA a call; they will sort you out.
Did mine with Everyman Motorsport. They are based at Mallory, but I actually sat the test in a shed at Hoton Park Driving Centre near Loughborough. It was about £140. No tuition (except from Steve Deeks). I also go straight back to Nat A; don't have to go through Nat B again.
Also, if you ring the MSA, be sure to clarify exactly what you need to do. They initially gave me incorrect info regarding the medical.

How long has this been so? My uncle packed in racing in 1965, in 2001 he produced his old licence to the MSA and he got a new Nat A. All he needed was the medical.Just spoke to a very helpful chap at MSA and he said the following
If I can prove that I competed and completed ( not DNF ) 6 races within the space I held the race licenses ( 5 seasons!! ) then all I'd need to do is complete the written part of the ARDS test which he said would cost around £40, and could be done at Brands Hatch for instance. He then said print off the result sheets for the races i competed in and send with application and proof of written completion of ARDS and I can get my National B again and don't need to go through the whole process!
He essentially said it's because I would have been eligible for my National A, seeing as I had competed so much in the years passed!
splendid

Even if you have to do the driven test again you can do it at brands hatch quite cheaply, just pay for a hours tuition and they will access you at the same time.If I can prove that I competed and completed ( not DNF ) 6 races within the space I held the race licenses ( 5 seasons!! ) then all I'd need to do is complete the written part of the ARDS test which he said would cost around £40, and could be done at Brands Hatch for instance. If you can prove you did 6 races then they should give you a Nat A and I really don't see any need to do the written part again.
.... the reason being, some of the flag signals have changed over the years, also start line procedure, ........... it is to ensure he is familiar with the current requirements! HTHP.S. ..... the current cost generally is £50,.... I would offer to do it for you, but I doubt that you would want to travel to Middlesbrough!

what;'s the diff with start line procedure ?
new flags, being the false start and no overtaking flags?
This is the Blue Book for 2011 as found on the MSA site: http://www.msauk.org/site/cms/contentviewarticle.a...new flags, being the false start and no overtaking flags?
Apparently the old batenburg flag and the false start are for karting only nowadays.

..... that is exactly the reason you have to do the written test, ....... a race start is now after the red lights have gone out, NOT after the reds have gone out, and the greens come on!! new flags, being the false start and no overtaking flags?
