I'm currently in the market for a cage for my BMW e30. At the moment it's a road rally car but hopefully in time we will do stage rallying with it. So the cage needs to be FIA approved, and I'm also keen to go for a bolt in cage.

The three options for a bolt in seem to be Sparco/OMP/Safety Devices.

I have a Saftey Devices cage in a mini and it's very nice, but also very expensive for the e30! I have no experience of the Sparco or OMP cages, so if anyone has any input on these two?

I have an OMP but from the cages I've seen I'd definitely go for safety devices if I was after another bolt-in. Jimmy Cuthbert at RPM can supply them for the e30 (no connection, just a fellow racer in Production BMW).

HTH.

may? be cheaper to have one made to measure - try Geronimo Cages of Hartlepool 01429 291113

they've just made one for my tvr. It is certified to MSA Blue Book spec for stage rallying

Two other options are Rollcentre - 01480 464052, or Fabricage, 01223 870563
Both most recommended.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've been in touch with Tornado Motorsport in Derbyshire and they seem knowledgable and are sensibly priced.

I'll give the others a call though

we run several cars (6) and purchased a cage from roll center after a long wait and several exchanges it arrived, it was too heavy, didnt fit and looked rough as. it now lies in a corner of the yard scrap as they wouldnt accept it back. go for safety devices better fit& quality !!!!!

Or take your car to Hartlepool as you are close - they will make a bespoke one

to Blue Book - weld in / bolt in or whatever - they are local so easy to ensure you get what you want. Much easier than dealing over the phone and postage etc.

I had an omp bolt in cage in one of my racing cars and I wouldnt want to have another like that - not strong enough. Take a look at a few other peoples cages and see what you think - stage rallying = trees etc - no point saving a few pounds and having a cheap cage.
