I all, could someone please explain what the test day actually involves. For example what are the typ of questions in the written exam and how long does it take to complete, as well as what else you do during the day. The DVD didnt say as much about it as I thought it would.

I took my ARDS on Friday. Ther are two sections to the theory, Safety(which includes the flags) and general knowledge. You have to get 100% on the safety but are allowed to get up to two wrong on the General knowledge. For the flags, it describes a situation, and you have to write the flag you would see (and whether waved or staionary). All the others are multiple choice. We were given 2O mins to do it, but most people were finished after 10. On the practical, The instuctors will take you out for a lap and talk you through it. You'll then do a few laps(depends on how long the laps are).

I read that section several times over to learn it, tbh you don't really need it for the test as the video contains most of what you need the rest being common sense stuff or bits and pieces the instructors may fill in during the day. Seriously the written test is easy you should get 100% on it, looking back I can't believe how nervous I was for the written test.

Learn your flags and then learn them again. Other than that its not even worth thinking about. Watch the DVD and have a bit of common sense, really nothing more to it. I was the same as you before doing mine, don`t know why afterwards though. As said, instructor will talk you round a couple of laps then you drive, I did 3 laps of Goodwood. Its not a race, theres no extra points for going quick, all you need do is concentrate and remember what you were told, keep it steady and dont make any mistakes, its easy, relax and enjoy it.

Just remember that in the event of a lights failure it is the NATIONAL flag that starts the race, not the Union Jack
