Has anyone got any tips of how I can get into Co-Driving?

I've no idea why I want to do it, I just do for some reason. I like the idea of managing the car and can read a map, generally just want to give it a try...

Can anyone give me any tips of where I can start looking to see how to get into the sport, or maybe any good sites/books/magazines I should be reading to try to get up to speed?

Cheers all

Thanks, just looking at your site now, I'll spend a bit of time going off following the links to get a better idea. I need to find my local motor club, but it's proving harder than I thought it would be, most seem to list when they meet in the pub rather than any events they are involved in. I'm based in Newbury Berkshire.

I guess ordering one of these is a good place to start: http://shop.msauk.org/product_details.asp?id=4073.

Paul,

Come to Brands Hatch Stages rally on Sunday and come and see us (car 49. - White 205) my navigator and I (I've also done 10 years of navigating) can have a good chat with you. Very happy to talk at the event, it's a good event to spectate at because you can see almost all the action from the grandstands.

Cheers

MrP80,

I'm in Reading!

There is a motor club based in Newbury, Dolphin MC, or you can make the very short run down the A4/M4 to Reading and Craven MC.

I'm the current Chairman and we are a very rally centric club with members competing in many different levels of the sport and also marshalling and competing at events up and down the country.

Drop me a line if you want to know more about the sport or clubs in our area.

I believe the most important attribute for a co-driver is not throwing up, bearing in mind you'll spend all of your time looking at the pace notes.

Biggest problem i've got is time at the moment, or at least time in the area.

I was planning on coming to Craven one week, but have been away with work every week for the past 2 months, and will probably for another couple so that put that plan on hold - I'm just never around midweek currently.

In the meantime I've ordered the books on your site, so I'll use the time stuck in a hotel to some use. And I'll try to find a club near Macclesfield I can drop in on in the meantime.

I've dropped you an email

Cheers

I think you'll find that the last thing you'll be looking at is...a map hehe

Unless you need one for the liaison stages wink

What sort of rallying are you looking to navigate for? I used to do some rally raid events (think Dakar...just less prestigious!!) and didn't do too badly in some!

Or are you more after WRC style stages etc?

Cheers
