Hi all, just looked through the search about TIMEATTACK i quite like the idea however it's not a full on race which some people don't like. I drive a 200sx s13 and not really intrested in the drifting scene, it looks a laugh and getting the back end out is fun. Only reason is TIMEATTACK is that my 200sx isn't edgible for any other championship with reasonable size, there is the nippon challenge but that classes consist of by the looks of it 3cars in some which looks pointless. I have looked at rallying but then would want a celica gt4 or impreza and these i cannot insure at my age....

Any ideas what i could do? and what would you prefer uk rallying (MSA English rally championship) or something like TIMEATTACK

By the sounds of it you want to use a road car and drive it there, then Time-attack would be your best option, as with racing your going to have a bigger chance of damaging the car, so will need to trailer the car there and back, and add a lot to your budget.

Why don't you consider spints and hillclimbs? From what I've seen of Time Attack, you have to throw big sums of money at it to be competitive. With sprints and hillclimbs you can keep the costs in check based on the class you want to compete in.

Or just do less races? I know I am not the only person that does this, must be loads in CSCC that only turn out for a handful of races a year, and as for the trailer just rent them if its only a few times a year. Drive the car on the road the rest of the time for track days.

I've never looked at sprints or hillclimb so that might be something to look into. As for a trailer well no doubt i could find some money for that. The main thing concerning me is that a friend has told me not to pour my money into a car that can't be used in many championships, where as a 205 or a fwd hillclimb car could no doubt be adapted to other championships quite easily, something ill have to think about i guess.
cheers guys

Also remember to you need a suitable car/van to toe it, but on a positive not, Trailers keep there value, so buy the best you can and you get all or most of your money back when you sell. yes you can rent, but then you have to spend time collecting and taking back etc, but on the plus side of renting you don't need the storage space.
Sprints and hill climbs are handy for getting you into the sport, as there are lots of classes and most cars taking part are road legal.
