New Snetterton 300 track layout 300 = 3 miles
Discussion
Anyone seen this? http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88168
Looks fantastic, and be a nice change to be able to race on this rather than the old long straights and a few bends at the ends version (worth the long trip to deepest Norfolk ).
Hope it is not just for the BTCC - I presume they would hardly build it if that was the case.
More corners and braking points the better in my book.

Slightly old news, but agree with your sentiments. It appears from the race calendars I've seen that the 300 layout is being used for several 'clubbie' meetings as well. Certainly there's an MSV meeting there on the 19th March, and we're racing on this layout with the CSCC in April.
Lets hope the weather doesn't hold up the work - first track day is planned for the 19th Feb!

What has Fast go to do with anything - interesting is more important that some super high overall lap time.
Racing is about over taking and the more stop starts the better for that.
The new infield and stand in that area will allow for alot more viewing of the track (one of the bad points of a large flat track - you only really get to set on complex or corner), so should be better for racing and spectators.
Not sure it will be ideal for heavy iron though Al - does not mean it won't be fun

The new radius between 12 and 13 makes Coram more of a challenge for smaller cars, all good. In the dry it used to be flat from the Esses all the way around to the chicane, not too sure about the continuing curve as a braking area onto the start finish straight though. I'm guessing some of the green in the mock up outside 12 and 13 will be gravel :-)
I'm due to race the 300 on March 19th and think it looks great.
There is still the thrill of the high speed corners but the new twisty sections should be an equally challenging test.
Should mean some great close racing between the barges and small fry as each will hold an advantage on different parts of the circuit.
The new tightening Corum looks really tricky. Expect plenty of spins on entry to the chicane.
Just 15 weeks to go.....

That looks great actually. No doubt the qualifying line will be a double apex (as indicated by the kerbing), so the braking area will be a straight line without an issue, but in a race all sorts of combinations are possible BJD said:
