40 minute races for German Cars
Discussion
The CSCC are to build on the success of their "Future Classics" series for Pre-1990 Sports, Saloons & GT Cars and introduce a new series for 2011. The series, to be known as "Deutsche Marque" will be for Post-1990 German car makes and will feature 3 classes: A - Up to 2499cc, B - 2500cc to 2999cc and up to 1999cc Turbocharged cars and C - Over 3000cc.
The series has come about due to the large demand that the club has had for post 1990 cars to be able to race in the existing "Future Classics" series, the majority of requests being from German car owners. It wasn't possible to add a newer class into FC as the grids were already full so a new series has been created.
The usual CSCC stipulations of standard size and shape body shell, no sequential gear boxes, original engines to type and List 1A or 1B tyres will be maintained. Races will run over 40 minutes with a compulsory pit stop for one or two drivers.
CSCC hope to attract owners of the larger engined VW Golfs, Ventos, Corrados & Beetles etc. along with Porsche 968s, 993s, 996s, Boxsters, Audi TT & A4s etc, BMW 3 & 5 series and similar Mercedes (although Porsche GT3s won't be allowed....too quick!). The club will display a "Deutsche Marque" car on its stand at the Autosport International show in January and further details of the series will be available on the CSCC Website shortly.

1990 - present day?
How does that fit with the 'Classic Sports Car Club'?
There's no definition of what age a car has to be to be considered a classic. You could argue that a Ferrari 430 is a classic despite being relatively new. In contrast an Allegro will never be a classic in my view, despite being old!How does that fit with the 'Classic Sports Car Club'?
The CSCC has always had a series for modern cars, CSCC Tin Tops, in which cars of all ages compete alongside each other.

Exactly. How does that fit with the 'Classic Sports Car Club'?
'CSCC' seem to be doing everything right in getting decent grids, and I have no doubt that this series will be a success.
However how many cars that race with CSCC are 'sports cars', not to mention 'classics'!!
Its the same with HSCC though - but with lots of single seater races.

thats a point that has never occurred to me before. most of the swinging sixties, classic k and future classics are sports cars, and all of the mag 7's are obviously sports cars. but there are no sports cars in the tin tops. its a point that doesn't really matter though because in a day when the majority of grids are down why would you limit a series by ruling out non sports cars.
If the drivers are happy, and with full grids it would seem that way, who cares if the name doesn't quite fit as tightly as some might think it should? Adopt, Adapt, Improve.
FWIW as someone who has literally crawled in, on, under, and over F1's, 911GT1's, Listers, Ascaris, and 100's of other cars of all values, ages and vintages it is the motley crew of a bunch of varied and interesting tin tops from the recent past that stop me from taking advantage of a rare early finish for work.

I had my first season racing in the Future Classics Series and all I can do is sing praises to the boys and girls who helped to make the series happen. Good size grids, good racing and excellent organization everywhere. The way the CSCC run the different series is much better than the HSCC and allows people like me to run an unusual car, in a resonably competitive guise. My last race at Snetterton - it felt like being in the middle of a Porsche Open race from the early 1990s. If only my GTS was as good as the Jones's brothers one, which dominated then. The DM series is a welcome addition for me - it would allow me to do 2 races per weekend, assuming the old girl holds up. Thumbs up from me!!!
The first race for this new CSCC Series took place at Snetterton on 10th April & 12 cars took to the grid (all front engined Porsches & BMWs). The club thought that this wasn't a bad start for a brand new series. 17 cars were out at Brands Hatch for race 2 of the season including a couple of 911s joining in the fun.
A few of the german car runners in CSCC "Future Classic" runners may switch to "Deutsche Marque" in the future if FC is continues to be over subscribed, as seems likely, so the Deutsche Marque series looks like growing.
It would be good to see more cars out and the up to 2.5 litre class must be the ideal place for a few of the older Porsche 944s that are in captivity, especially if in the 190 Bhp trim that EMC seemed to be able to develop for the old Super Coupe Cup. It would also be good to see a few VWs & Audis added to the grid (the up to 3 litre class must be ideal for a vew VAG 1.8 turbo cars!), plus the aforementioned "Opel" Vectra Challenge cars.
