Victim of the contact that has become synonymous with that series, probably a lot to do with being on the TOCA package and copying the big boys.Clio cup gone down hill mamaged to get 15 cars at some events very poor this year
It will come back to strength though, I have no doubt, but hopefully the lesson will be retained and the days of dodgems will be confined to history.

Back to OP - too many new series promising the earth and delivering nothing - most should be resigned to classes within existing series until numbers are acceptable. Things like Young Guns, Chevrons & Aston Martin Challenge spring to mind.

When I was testing at Oulton, two of the Clios out were sporting pretty big battle scars on their rear quarters and they didnt pick them up in testing.
But yes, now the series has cleaned up its act, I would expect more people to be interested.

Not in 2010 - '09 (and before) perhaps.
So exactly like I said, its numbers have taken a hammering because of the smashing and bashing that have defined the racing in that series pretty much all through the noughties Too bad the numbers have dwindled to single figures as a result.
Onwards and upwards from here on hopefully.

15 or 16 pretty much all year.
Clio Cup is not cheap, what with entries, car updates etc. Reckon you'd struggle to do it (properly) for less than £40k even without factoring in the cost of the car.
The recession has hit hard this year and people are looking for more bang for their buck (apologies for unintended pun) or sitting it out altogether.
Quite a few ex Clio bods in the Fiat Trofeo thing as well - another series that shouldn't have been allowed to start up, thinning out grids.

BRISCA F2 has over 500 registered drivers this year, and they start the faster drivers at the back of the pack so loads of over-taking / racing
Plus it is always exciting racing! Certainly taught dad a lot about race craft when he worked his way through the ranks many years ago (got to Superstar staus). Barford is my nearest track and although particularly short is always entertaining!Gassing Station | UK Club Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
