Just after opinions of this and hopefully pointed in the correct direction, I'm looking to buy one fairly soon. Are the infra red ones (which seem much cheaper than probe variants) reasonable enough to start with? What are the pro's and con's of each? It's my first year out racing so don't need anything rocket science.

Cheers,

Dunc.

You can buy heat reactive paint to paint the edge of discs with that works quite well.

The infa red dooby will work but only really if you can have someone get to the car as soon as you come off the track...its no good lining up to enter the pit lane, trundle down pit lane, line up to enter the paddock and then trundle back to your area and then doing it.

Hi is heat reactive paint a one shot deal? Or if you use it does it heat up and cool down then still work for the next heat cycle?

Cheers,

Its been a while since I used it but from memory it needed to sustain a temperature for a period to stay changed...so yes once it turns it is done. You only need a little stripe on the edge of the disc.
