Any recommendations for this? I am seriously considering a Radical-type car, but don't really have the time/space to give it the tinkering it will need. What I'm interested in is someone who can store the car, work on it, transport to/from circuits, for reasonable money.

Circuits I go to tend to be Silverstone/Rockingham kind of area, so I guess it makes sense for them to be not a million miles from there. Any suggestions on good companies or what it's likely to cost?

There will be probably 100's of motorsport companies who can do this for you - some much better than others and the costs will vary hugely - if you are going racing what I would probably suggest is that you have a look at the set up of the series you plan to enter and see who is running who and what the set up is.

Cost really depend on what you get - having 1/2 of a 7.5 tonne truck and 1/2 an awning with 3 mechanics/helpers looking after 2 cars and say 2 days of prep to get the car into championship winning form is not cheap - easily £1k plus per race weekend.

You need to cost this up as strange as it sounds it might actually be cheaper to rent a car from a team, who are already committed to the series.

Lastly if you want someone to store the car and therefore have effective control over it make sure that you can trust them as there are some real "characters" out there. When I started racing in the 1980's I rented a F First and then a FF1600 from a team and it was only some time later that I found out that the cars were owned by other customers who had no idea they were being raced...

Yep, I realise there are loads of people who can do this, so I was hoping to get some recommendations. I'm actually only interested in track/test days at the moment, so don't really need track-side support provided the car is reliable.

Hi, which Radical are you looking to get. they are both simple and quite complicated beasts if that makes sense..

I did some work with an SR8 this year in spain and the Uk..now that thing took a lot of work.. ok it was being raced hard, ( winning the nevada challenge) but I worked it out that we were spending a 100 man hours to every 1 hour of track time.

The team that ran that were Moore Racing near Milton Keynes so well placed for silverstone and Rockingham. They are a very good team but not on the budget side.. I believe they also have the SR8 for sale if you fancy a big radical complete with spare v8. The owner has gone historic racing instead.

If your just looking for expert prep, storage and transport rather than a full time team to look after it, try Dom at Midland Classic Restorations nr Worcester.
Dom's work is excellent, for both restorations and Race prep. He's a multiple championbship winner in his own cars so knows how to putone together, and last week he had in
His Frogeye racer, My Sagaris Racer in build, a FF1600, and MGA rally car, and 2 mg racers..

well worth giving him a bell. 01905 622166

True, but seems like a bit of a waste of money when you have an R500 in the garage wink
