Marsh Plant Aston Martin Vantage
Discussion
Does anyone have any photos of the old metallic blue aston martin V8 that gerry marshall used to race in the intermarque challenge in the 90s. I seem to remember it was up against richard chamberlains 935 and a monster of a V12 E type.
I was searching through some old club racing photos the other day but couldn't find the one's of this particular car.
Cheers!

From testing prior to a few runs out with Anthony Reid in lat 08 I think
Gregor will tell you if this is the same car (there were 2 V8's) that later got more moddied to be like the above or the other one his Dad swept all before him with
Both V8's in this Pic
Detail from the guy who know most soon..................

That's the one! an awesome piece of kit. They both used to race together didn't they?
I remember it at many AMOC meetings that I went to when I was younger. I remember one particular occaision at Donington when there was a thoroughbred GP and Group C race as there was a bit of a run in down towards the chicane with the orange 935. Looked like quite a nasty accident.
I'd love to see it out racing again, how about Britcar?!

There were three different Marsh Plant V8s (in five different versions) and only two Dad drove regulalry.
First there was this:-
That became this:-
That then became this with Anthony Reid driving:-
Before the silver car became the blue car there was this (which exists in this state still):-
And then finally there was this (the one on the right with Sabre Marine on the windscreen) which belonged to John Freeman:-
This was sold a couple of years ago to Andy Jenkinson and restored to orignal condition and now looks like this:-
(Sorry if some reposts, just making it clear to everyone!!)

Its on VHS and is in a cupboard here somewhere- I don't have an easy way of converting it to a digital format and uploading it to something like Youtube but if I could find it I'd be happy to post it to you if you send it back once you're done with it.

Hi, that looks to be liveried in the same colour scheme as the Robin Hamilton/Dave Preece/Mike Salmon car that raced at Le Mans in 1979.
In the early 1980's I lived in Shropshire, not far from Dave Preece and I often used to help out when they were building the DPLM Special, a front-engined, spaceframe V8 car that was very much styled on the original production DBS to 'look like a proper Aston'. The car was designed and built by Ken Heywood (who I've kept in touch with until quite recently) and its debut was at the 1982 1000kms at Brands Hatch although the plan was always to compete at Le Mans.
The car was driven on its debut by Dave Preece and Reg Woodcock although it unfortunately crashed on the opening lap in very heavy rain, I seem to remember getting suitable wets was a real problem. The following year it raced at largely AMOC/JDC club events and Intermarque Challenge rounds before being sold (to Stewart Bond I think).
Not sure where the car is now or whether it has raced again but it would be great if anyone has any pictures they could post.

It was stored at a car musuem in the grounds of Littlecote House near Newbury in the mid 90s, I have a few photos from then somewhere. From memory it was owned by an American and being restored to race again. This was at least 15yrs ago now thoughNot sure where the car is now or whether it has raced again but it would be great if anyone has any pictures they could post.
That last picture has one of the huge E type. Is that still racing as well?
I specifically remember the battle between the green jag, the V8 aston and Richard Chamberlains 935.
It'd be good to see them all battling it out again, I imagine since they last raced each car has had a significant amount of development. I know the 935 had quite a successful outing at the Bahrain GT festival a few years ago and put some of the factory teams to shame!

the etype was on ebay a while back for quite a bit (100k) if i remember correctly. it crashed about 10 years ago and was never properly rebuilt. the ebay ad was for all the bits to finish of the rebuild.
